Located in Carterville, Illinois, WSIL serves portions of four states – Illinois, Missouri, Kentucky and Tennessee. WSIL is 2 hours from St. Louis, 3 hours from Nashville, Tennessee, and approximately 5 hours from Chicago.

The WSIL viewing area boasts several great parks and lakes. For the sportsman, the area offers opportunities for turkey, deer, and waterfowl hunting. Southern Illinois is home to the Thrillville Thrillbillies, a Prospect League baseball team, as well as four universities, Southern Illinois Univ. TECHNICAL MEDIA PRODUCER (TMP)

DESCRIPTION:     A Technical Media Producer (TMP) is a hybrid position which includes the responsibilities of a Master Control Operator and a Technical Director. The TMP is responsible for directing live or pre-recorded productions as assigned, monitoring on-air streams, FCC logs, and ingesting daily programming/commercials.  Daily assignments will include directing at least one newscast, ingesting/segmenting various long-form programs, ingesting commercial spots, loading programming playlists for the following day, and performing various tasks as needed.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:    Operation of Ross Overdrive automation (including robotic cameras, audio console, graphics, and production video switcher), and all supporting equipment in Production/Master Control; including the ability to effectively perform at the following:  commercial/promo ingesting, satellite operation, program ingesting/segmenting, & a working knowledge of web production.  Operation of Edius editing software, and studio teleprompter. Daily care & maintenance of equipment & studio.  Work closely with all departments to meet daily demands.  Other duties as assigned.

SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:   Master Control and Live Production experience.  Experience with production automation system like Ross Overdrive, ability to work under pressure, great communication/people skills, ability to multitask under time sensitive deadlines, strong technical & computer skills, flexibility with scheduling & job assignments, understanding of FCC program logs & all FCC broadcast regulations.  Willingness to learn new hardware and software.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:   Full-time and part-time positions available; rate of pay is hourly.

AS a key member of the technology team, the IT Administrator will provide and perform all information technology support for the station including IT policies and procedures, equipment maintenance for WAN/LAN/VPN, wireless access points, domain controllers, VOIP phone systems and PC workstations.

Experience:

Tasks include but are not limited to:

• Active Directory management

• Desktop support for local and remote users

• Design, implement and maintain computer/network security policies

• Work with corporate engineering and 3rd party vendors to configure, install, and maintain switches, routers, servers, NAS and other hardware and software

• Provide capital budgetary support and advice for selection and replacement of equipment

Requirements:

Physical Requirements:

Occasional travel to station towers in Cape Girardeau and Poplar Bluff Missouri and other company properties is required. Typical hours are Monday-Friday however, all engineering staff are on call 24/7.

Work as a journalist in a wonderful Midwest community that's part of a particularly large (geographically) DMA.  WSIL covers an area over 19,000 square miles, with no big cities, but a whole lot of local news.  You'll be responsible for daily video content -- and become the editor-in-chief of your region's digital news source.  You absolutely need to be a self-starter who is able to work remotely to report the news from the community/region you live and/or work in.  You must be able to shoot, edit, write and present your own stories, including live shots, while providing on-air and online content.
