NewsWatch12 in Medford, Oregon, is seeking an outstanding journalist to join its leading news team in Southern Oregon and Northern California.

Role Description

This is a full-time, on-site role for Senior/Anchor at KDRV-TV located in Medford, OR. The role involves anchoring daily newscasts, producing compelling news segments, and reporting on enterprising stories with professionalism and accuracy. Responsibilities include gathering facts, developing story ideas, writing scripts, delivering engaging live or recorded reports, and collaborating with the news team to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment. Additional responsibilities may include conducting interviews, covering breaking news, and contributing to the editorial process to ensure credible, impactful journalism.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience in live anchoring, reporting, or a similar on-air role
  • Strong breaking news instincts and the ability to ad-lib confidently in live situations
  • Versatility to handle both in-studio and field reporting assignments
  • Excellent storytelling, writing, and communication skills
  • A strong understanding of digital platforms and audience engagement strategies

The successful candidate for this full-time position will possess the fundamentals for work behind the scenes and in front of the camera. We are seeking an individual with a strong foundation in shooting, editing, and writing, and who is eager to develop their skills for potential on-camera opportunities. The right candidate can make a day one impact developing and guiding advertising and promotional campaigns for all of our content platforms -- on-air, online and mobile.

Responsibilities include producing eye-catching, brand-focused news promos (image, topical, POP, special report & series) that will drive ratings growth.  Candidates will also have the skills needed to produce highly creative, innovative commercial advertising for the station’s advertising clients and partners.

A detail-oriented approach along with excellent organizational and communications skills are a must.  Must be comfortable working under tight deadlines (sometimes extremely tight deadlines).  College or university degree and a minimum of three years of experience in a local television station advertising and promotion department required.
