Chico is located in Butte County, approximately 90 miles north of Sacramento, 150 miles west of Lake Tahoe, and 160 miles from San Francisco. Morning Multimedia Journalist
Action News Now (KHSL & KNVN) the CBS and NBC affiliates serving the Chico/Redding market) is looking for a Multimedia Journalist to energize our morning newscasts and help take our coverage to the next level.
View Job DetailsThis is a full-time, reporter position designed for a strong self-starter who thrives on live television. You'll be responsible for live reports, during our morning newscasts, delivering breaking news and enterprising stories that matter to our viewers.
This is a true one-person-band role. You'll shoot, write, edit, and present your own stories, with a heavy emphasis on live field reporting, quick-turn content, and clear, conversational storytelling. The ideal candidate is calm under pressure, organized, and comfortable pivoting quickly when news breaks.
Responsibilities include:
Going live during the 5 a.m. & 6 a.m. newscasts, Monday through Friday
Covering breaking news and developing stories
Pitching and producing enterprising story ideas relevant to the community
Shooting, writing, and editing your own video
Posting and updating content on social media, YouTube, and the station website
Working closely with producers to shape strong, viewer-focused morning coverage
Qualifications:
On-air reporting experience or strong journalism education preferred
Ability to deliver clear, engaging live shots on tight deadlines
Solid news judgment and writing skills
Comfortable working early morning hours
Bachelor's degree in journalism or related field preferred (exceptions considered)
Knowledge of ENPS and Edius a plus
Salary:
$39,520 annually
($19.00/hour)
