Action news Now, KHSL and KNVN TV station (the local CBS and NBC networks) in the Chico/Redding market is looking for a Multimedia Journalist to help take our newscasts to the next level.

We're looking for a full-time, multimedia journalist to join the Action News Now team. You'll cover breaking news, generate enterprising stories that matter to your community, and investigate community concerns. It's a one-man-band role, with the expectation that you shoot, write and edit your own video and present your reports live at 4, 5 and 6 p.m. daily. You'll also need to post content related to your reporting on social media, including YouTube and on our website. Candidates should have experience or education in journalism. B.A. is preferred but exceptions will be considered. 

 

Salary- $39,499/annually

$18.99/hourly

Action News Now is looking for a dynamic, self-motivated, technically-savvy news junkie to produce newscasts and maintain the digital content for Action News Now and multiple social media platforms. Your goal is to build an audience of loyal and local visitors. This position is part time and reports to the News Director.
 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include, but are not limited to, the following (Other duties may be assigned):

  • Write and adapt broadcast content for the morning newscast some weekdats, and maintain the website on weekends.
  • Create significant, original, locally-focused stories for all digital platforms.
  • Create engaging content on Facebook, Twitter and other digital platforms that draw viewers to the web and television.
  • Participate in the creative development and technical implementation of online content for the website and news stories for the morning newscast.
  • Help reporters post stories to the station website.
  • Edit video to support storytelling in our newscasts

Other duties may be assigned as needed.

Required Qualifications

  • Must understand and be able to execute news stories on evolving digital platforms • Have sound news judgment • Attention to detail • Initiative and drive in a deadline-driven environment • Energy and follow-up • Successfully collaborate daily with teammates across the newsroom • The ability to handle stressful environments • Strong communication skills • Understand Breaking News

Preferred Qualifications

  • A Degree in Journalism, Communications, or other field of related study preferred. 
  • Experience with news production and website content creation is preferred.
