Summary
We are seeking a skilled Systems Administrator to join our team at KITV. In this role, located in Honolulu, you will be responsible for managing and supporting our IT infrastructure, ensuring optimal performance and security of our systems. Your contributions will be vital in maintaining the quality of service we provide to our viewers. This position reports to the Director of Technology.
Responsibilities
- Security and Compliance: Implement and support company security policies, group policies, and anti-virus policies. Manage user access to network resources. Respond to network incidents (outages, intrusions). Ensure IT compliance with relevant regulations.
- Technical Support: Provide technical assistance to computer users for network issues via phone, email, or in-person. Offer help desk support for computer and network issues. Train users on new hardware and software. Create operating procedure documents for users. Support servers, desktops, notebooks, and MS operating systems.
- Infrastructure Management: Maintain and manage backup images of servers and equipment configurations. Manage NAS storage. Perform routine maintenance of hardware/software. Upgrade/install/maintain infrastructure items (workstations, laptops, cabling). Install, configure, and repair computer hardware, operating systems, and applications. Maintain Servpac digital phone system – setup users and troubleshoot issues.
- Network Administration: Maintain network documentation. Assist with broadcast equipment installation and setup. Deploy new computer hardware and operating systems. Recommend appropriate hardware and software for projects.
- Vendor Management: Track support tickets with external vendors (MNS Contractor, Bitcentral, Chyron, ENPS, Imagine, Ross). Process Improvement: Improve operational and departmental processes.
- Inventory Management: Manage and maintain IT inventory of hardware, software, and licenses.
- Broadcast Support: Assist Broadcast Engineers with live news production setup and troubleshooting, audio/video equipment troubleshooting, and electronics repair.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience in IT management or a similar role.
- Experience in a content creation environment desired.
Technical Skills
- Proficiency in various operating systems (e.g., Windows, Linux, macOS).
- Knowledge of networking, database management, and cybersecurity.
- Understanding of cloud computing and virtualization technologies.
- Background with non-linear video editing platforms.
- Experience with NAS devices.
- Familiarity with Google Workspace
Leadership and Management Skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to delegate tasks and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Problem-solving and decision-making skills.

The KITV Reporter/MMJ would be responsible for reporting, shooting, writing, posting to digital platforms, live reporting and editing news stories within assigned deadlines. They will produce stories that are compelling, factually correct, creative, and written in a clear, conversational manner.
Job Responsibilities:
The multimedia journalist must cultivate sources and contacts to produce enterprise stories as well as produce stories assigned by the station.
- Gathering and verifying factual information regarding stories
- Shooting video and still photos to illustrate stories
- Be a creative storyteller
- Produce vo, vosot, and video packages that include MMJs voice and images
- Editing, or assisting in editing, videos for all multimedia platforms including KITV.com, Facebook, and Twitter
- Live reporting
Qualifications/Requirements:
- Computer literacy required, including newsroom computer systems
- Knowledge of broadcast quality camera equipment
- Knowledge of broadcast non-linear editing equipment
- Strong broadcast and AP style writing skills
- Passion for producing compelling and engaging stories
- Excellent interviewing skills
- Self-motivated and able to work in a fast-paced deadline-driven environment
- Must exercise sound editorial judgement and operates by highest journalistic ethics and libel laws
- Valid Driver's License, good driving record and provide proof of insurability with company required insurance limits

Education:
Four-year college Bachelor’s degree (journalism preferred)
Experience:
- Previous non-linear editing video experience
- 1-3 years of experience working as a journalist inside a television newsroom

View Job DetailsIsland News has an opening for Digital Content Manager. The Digital Content Manager is primarily responsible for all content across KITV4 Island News’ digital platforms, including web, mobile, and other content distribution platforms.
The DCM is also responsible for the creation and curation of all content on kitv.com, aggressively covering breaking news through push alerts, livestreams, social posts, articles, video and more. This includes daily content, editing content, upkeep of site sections, video editing/producing, social media management, HTML coding, web-exclusive content, and coordinating with the Assignment Desk on broadcasting news events over digital platforms.This includes daily content, editing content, upkeep of site sections, video editing/producing, social media management, HTML coding, web-exclusive content, and coordinating with the Assignment Desk on broadcasting news events over digital platforms.

Please note, this is journalism position, NOT a social media manager position.
Qualifications:
- Must have a Bachelor’s Degree in Communications, Journalism, Digital Media or other related field.
- Must have 2 years of direct work experience with producing and innovating digital content, plus developing digital strategies for a news outlet (TV or Newspaper).
- Must be knowledgeable with AP writing style and operate with the highest journalistic standards.
- Ability to organize and prioritize work activities and tasks handling multiple assignments, while meeting "tight" deadlines in an environment subject to constant change and interruptions.
- Must have outstanding interpersonal skills; a team player.
