Director of Photography/Editor (Local Serial Program)

Director of Photography - Will be responsible for the "house style" or visual look and feel of the program using a combination of photography and production skills, including lighting, movement, exposure, composition, sound,etc.

Executive Producer, Local Serial Program

The Executive Producer, Local Serial Program will manage all aspects of the production of Local Serial Programming.

Host/Producer - Will work under the direction of the Executive Producer, and function as the on-air talent, and segment producer/writer for the Local Serial Program.

Job Description:

  • Responsible for the daily operation of the assignment desk, keeps track of all stories and potential stories coming into the newsroom from various sources including phone calls, email, social media, etc.
  • Maintains an updated data base of newsroom contacts including neighbor islands, state and county governments, hospitals, and private businesses.
  • Contacts sources directly for information on stories.
  • Responsible for assigning reporters and photographers and other news personnel to cover news stories and events.
  • Research story ideas and set up interviews of news sources for reporters, producers, and photographers.  May also conduct interviews for use on air and online.
  • Responsible for getting information coming into the newsroom to the producers and rest of the newsroom staff as needed.  
  • Coordinate the exchange of stories including video with news outlets and services.
  • Responsible for short and long term planning for news coverage.

                                               

Job Requirement:

  • Must be able to work under pressure; understand the urgency of news and deadlines.
  • Must be able to multi-task; good at time management.
  • Must maintain a personable demeanor especially when handling sources and viewers.
  • Understands that news breaks at all hours and the Assignment Editor can expect to be asked or assigned any shift to meet the demands of the situation.

Experience Requirements:

  • At least 2-5 years of experience in a television newsroom in a similar size market or larger; direct experience as an assignment desk preferred.  
  • Experience with coordinating and dispatching crews and resources.
  • Knowledge of ENPS, Microsoft Outlook, Word, Lexis Nexis, Pacer would be valuable.

 

Qualifications Requirements:

Education: College degree; Journalism or Broadcasting preferred.
