The successful candidate is responsible for attending daily Pitch Meetings and “pitching” 3 original stories each workday. These stories can range from in-depth investigations to current events in our viewing area.

An MMJ should be proficient in knowledge of broadcast ENG equipment. The successful candidate will be able to pursue news stories in the field with station issued gear: Camera, lights, tripod and microphone. The candidate should then be prepared to write a cohesive, objective and non-biased story regarding information collected and present a script to a producer, within a given deadline, for approval. The candidate will then, “voice” the script, upload that voice file into the station editing program and edit their assigned story for broadcast.

MMJ’s are also responsible for turning in a web script to be used on the Station’s website. This script is shorter, in most cases, than the broadcast script and includes pertinent (cellphone) photo(s) of story specific images.

MMJ’s may, on occasion, be requested to “Front” or present their story during the live broadcast. This could be in the studio during the newscast or “Live” in the field, using station issued “Live” gear.
