WAAY-TV, Alabama’s Television Station of the Year, is looking for a true team player and leader to join our dynamic staff as Director of Marketing. This is a Department Head position. The qualified candidate will be responsible for overseeing all marketing activities of WAAY-TV, and will work closely with a team of professionals in the development and execution of strategies to drive ratings growth throughout the broadcast day with a strong focus on promotion of news efforts on all platforms.

 

The ideal candidate will have oversight of graphic development and will work closely with news leadership in the creation of social marketing strategies. Strategies will be developed that support and grow station branding and awareness throughout the market. Strong writing and interpersonal skills are required, creative editing capability and the ability to shoot quality video is desired. Familiarity with market research and the ability to execute and improve upon recommended strategies for on-air and on-line objectives is critical.

 

Good communication skills and the ability to work with all departments is required. Knowledge of working with clients in the creation of successful promotional campaigns is expected.

 

The Director of Marketing should possess skills necessary to promote a positive, creative atmosphere in all areas of the television station. The candidate should be able to work well in breaking news situations and be able to meet sometimes demanding deadlines. Attention to detail and follow-up is critical.

 

This is a position within a fast-paced environment and requires a leader to embrace goals and objectives of WAAY while working every day to improve the culture of this legacy station that serves North Alabama.

 

Bachelor’s Degree marketing or related field is preferred in addition to experience that reflects success in creation of station marketing campaigns that lead to audience and consumer growth. WAAY-TV, Alabama’s Television Station of the Year, is looking for a true team player and leader to join our dynamic staff as Executive Producer of WAAY 31 Morning News. This is a leadership/management position within the news department. The qualified candidate will be responsible for overseeing content and execution of WAAY-31 Morning News, Monday through Friday mornings from 4:30am to 7:00pm. You will work closely with an experienced team of journalists and anchors in developing fast-paced local news segments, leading in breaking news execution, and must possess excellent news judgement.

 

The ideal candidate will advance the WAAY strategic news plan and related objectives keeping in mind the target audience of morning news. Strong writing and interpersonal skills are required. The Executive Producer must be an experienced, effective leader in the newsroom who understands execution of our news content strategy. Dedication to winning the day with regards to multi-platform breaking news and breaking weather coverage, a focus on excellence with newscast execution and newsroom culture is critical.

 

The Executive Producer is a leader within the newsroom and is expected to champion the development of strong storytelling abilities that lead to compelling content on all platforms. The successful candidate will have the responsibility for newscast content including oversight on story selection, always seeking exclusive content.
