Sports Multimedia Journalist

This is your chance to cover sports like the big guys. With historic Lambeau Field just 90 minutes away, we treat the Packers as our hometown team, because they are HUGE in the state of Wisconsin. Not only will you have the chance to cover NFL, but occasionally cover the Bucks and Badgers as well. But this job is so much more than our outstanding and thorough Packers coverage. We have a large, and passionate prep sports scene in Central Wisconsin, one that people in our viewing areas love to see covered on our air waves.
We’re looking for someone who can find stories that will resonate with our viewers, that will stick in our memories, and that will make our communities proud to support their teams. You won’t be just shooting highlights night after night. You’ll be challenged to find these unique stories that have helped us become the number one station in the market. If you’re passionate about sports and storytelling, this job is for you.
Essential duties and responsibilities:
- Shoot and edit sports content for broadcast
- Write content for website
- Ability to set up and execute live shots
- Find and pitch interesting and captivating stories to our local market
- Keep extensive knowledge of local sport teams, including high school, college and pro sports
- Must be willing to drive longer distances (some of our area schools are 1 hour or more away from the station)
- College degree in journalism or related field is required

WAOW-TV in Wausau, Wisconsin is looking for Monday through Friday evening anchor to join our team. We need a great storyteller, and incredible writer and someone who loves to make the team around them even stronger.

Technical Media Producer
WAOW is seeking applicants for a Newscast Director position. The successful candidate must be detail oriented, have multi-tasking abilities, and excellent organizational skills. Additionally, the candidate must be eager to learn and be self-motivated.
Looking for a career in broadcast television? Do you have a technical aptitude and want to grow with a company that continues to invest in the industry? WAOW is seeking applicants for a Newscast Director position. The successful candidate must be detail oriented, have multi-tasking abilities, and excellent organizational skills. Additionally, the candidate must be eager to learn and be self-motivated.
Responsibilities include Technical Directing newscasts and assisting in Master Control, as well as operating character generators, audio boards, and robotic cameras. Basic understanding of Newsroom Control systems is a plus, but not required. The successful candidate will possess the necessary technical skills to interface with computer software, running on a variety of operating systems, as well as embrace new technology.
The successful candidate will have excellent computer skills and people skills. Previous experience in Television production is desired. Variable hours and days should be expected including mornings, nights, weekends and holiday shifts. Training is provided and likely necessary for an applicant with the right aptitude and technical skills.
