WREX, the NBC Affiliate in Rockford, IL, is looking for a visually creative and highly energetic Weekend Evening Anchor / Producer / MMJ. We’re looking for a journalist who knows how to create “memorable television moments” in the studio and out in the field. We are looking for a journalist who can dig for a story and fights to be the lead in the newscast. If you know how to use social media to creatively engage viewers, we want to learn more about you.  Do you know how to develop and enterprise exclusive content? If so, you will get our attention. Strong news gathering, producing and investigative skills are preferred.

This position requires on-camera anchoring, reporting, producing photojournalism and non-linear editing.  Our journalists produce content for on-air, online, and mobile platforms.  Producing experience is a plus. Applicants must have a degree in journalism or a related multimedia field and prior on-camera professional experience. .

WREX-TV in Rockford, Illinois has an immediate opening for a Sports Videographer/Producer. This is a full-time, temporary position.

The successful candidate will shoot and write Sports content for our on-air and digital platforms. We are looking for a photojournalist with a creative eye, technical expertise and a can-do attitude. You’ll also need to understand the importance of visual composition, natural sound and quality lighting.

Other Qualifications:

--Working knowledge of TV news gathering techniques and best practices.

--Experience shooting Sports.

--Experience with video editing software.

--Solid writing skills.

--Ability to work independently, exercising good judgement.
--Willing to work nights and/or weekends as needed.

WREX provides all the equipment, and you will work out of our studios. WREX vehicles will be used while on assignment.

WREX, the NBC affiliate in Rockford, IL, is looking for an innovative Meteorologist who is passionate about weather and understands its daily impact on people.  We are looking for a meteorologist who is willing to go above and beyond to provide comprehensive, creative and captivating weather segments for our viewers. 

WREX provides our meteorologists top of the line graphics and equipment to help produce award-winning coverage.  This position includes on-air weather coverage during our 4:00 p.m., 5:00 p.m., 6:00 p.m. and 10:00 p.m. broadcasts, Monday through Friday.  This position also has the expectation of extended hours at non-scheduled times for major weather events and station initiatives. 

The ideal candidate will have on-air experience and a degree in meteorology, journalism or a related field.  Social Media is also a big part of the commitment we have to our viewers.  Proficiency on Facebook, X and other networking sites is a must.  You’ll be working with WSI MAX system. Experience in Adobe Creative Suite software, specifically Photoshop and After Effects is a plus. 

The Rockford market is a great place to live with numerous colleges and universities, good quality of life, ample recreation and close proximity (1 hour distance) to Chicago and Madison.

WREX-TV, the NBC affiliate in Rockford, IL, is looking for a Monday through
Friday evening meteorologist / MMJ who is passionate about weather and understands
its daily impact on our viewers. We are the market leader when it comes to weather
coverage. This position includes on-air weather anchoring during 13 News 4pm and
5pm newscasts as well as fill-in opportunities on other 13 News programs.

This person will also work as a multi-media journalist for our news team, contributing
news content to our digital platforms and reporting on-air as needed. The ideal
candidate will have prior on-air experience and a degree in meteorology, journalism
or a related field. We are open to considering weather forecasters who may be seeking
their meteorology degree or certificate.

The ideal candidate will also be proficient and creative with posting on social media
platforms like Facebook, Twitter and Instagram where many WREX viewers access
our weather information.
