SPORTS ANCHOR/REPORTER

  Our market is home to Southern Oregon University and Oregon Institute of Technology, and dozens of high schools with some of the very best prep athletes in the state. If you love outdoor activities, there’s plenty here to cover here.  As a sports anchor/reporter, you’ll shoot, write, edit and present stories for our broadcast and digital platforms from the studio and live in the field. A reel that demonstrates your skills in these areas is important.  A college degree in journalism or a related field is required.

The successful candidate is an enthusiastic, go-getter with excellent communications and organizational skills, creativity, persistence, and the ability to meet or exceed budget through new and existing business development.  Prior media marketing experience (TV, cable, radio, print) or other business-to-business sales experience is a real plus.  Must have strong computer skills and be proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.  Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing or related field is helpful.

NewsWatch 12 offers an internship program for registered college students. The goal of the internship program is for interns to acquire a professional understanding and skill level in any one of the following areas:

 - News reporting, photography or producing

 - Operations and technical media production

 - Sales and marketing

 - Creative Services and design

This position is a great entry point for someone seeking to work in a media sales and broadcast operations environment.  This position is excellent training for someone interested in a future account executive position.  You’ll provide general office support to our sales managers, account executives, and traffic team.  Great computer skills that include proficiency in Word, Excel, Power Point and Outlook are required.  Must type at least 40 words per minute with accuracy.  Strong attention to detail and multi-tasking abilities are a must. A high school diploma or equivalent is required; college degree is a plus.
