Island News is looking for a NEWS DIRECTOR to maintain and grow its reputation for being the market-

research-driven, strategy-based multi-platform newsroom and has a strong understanding and appreciation

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Broadcast Journalism, or an equivalent combination of education and

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop and maintain the strategic direction and editorial vision for Island News. Consult and
    collaborate with General Manager and management team on long-term and short-term objectives,
    goals and action plans.
  • Direct and lead overall efforts of the news department to ensure the vision and mission of Island
    News is understood by the entire news organization.
  • Responsible and accountable for overall quality and performance of the station’s news product by
    critiquing newscasts and digital content, discussing observations with station management and
    employees and rigor of teaching and accountability.
  • Execute commitment to breaking news and In-depth investigative strategy.
  • Lead our weather and news teams to live truly live Island Weather Alert on broadcast and all digital
    platforms.
  • Develop a strong News Department staff through applicable training, evaluation and
    communication with team members. Continuously recruit to develop diverse and talented pool of
    candidates. Interview and select new employees for News Department team. 
  • Hold the bar of journalistic excellence high. This is marked by accuracy and fairness and astute
    story selection and compelling story telling.
  • Champion use of kitv.com and all other digital assets as access points for our content and as
    creative platforms for original content.
  • Understand and incorporate extensive market research and your own tested instincts to drive the
    direction and decisions of the department.
  • Be an engaged member of the community who understands the neighborhoods, issues, and
    special characteristics and nuances of Hawaii of which you direct coverage.
  • Responsible for all administrative duties associated with running the news organization, including
    personnel and budgeting.
  • Complete other duties as assigned.

SKILLS: The right candidate must be a proven leader who has good rapport with staff. He or she should
have excellent organizational skills and superior news judgment. He/she will need to be innovative and a
strategic thinker. The candidate must work well under pressure, foster cooperation in a stressful setting and

Digital Sales Marketing Coordinator 

The Digital Sales Marketing Coordinator is responsible for working with Station Sales Management and their advertisers to ensure successful advertising promotions. He or she will manage the various steps in facilitating marketing campaigns, from order entry/scheduling to creation and coordination of creative production (obtaining assets, approval) and monitor campaign delivery and performance. Effective communication with internal teams (sales, creative services and news) and potentially external clients, to ensure satisfactory delivery on commitments.

Additionally, the Digital Sales Marketing Coordinator works closely with Sales in an administrative support capacity as relates to Linear/Lifestyle/Digital Sales. This may include processing advertising contracts, developing sales materials and client-specific presentations. This position requires an organized individual, detail and team-oriented, with strong written and verbal communication skills. Responsibilities

  1. Input, manage, launch and monitor station sales promotions & campaigns.
  2. Coordinate and work with Creative Services team to design ads; gather creative assets, manage revisions, receive approval, and facilitate timely trafficking of ad creative as needed to ensure smooth campaign launches.
  3. Set-up, monitor and coordinate all sales-related contests on KITV.com. Gather contest details and formalize contest rules; manage and coordinate winner announcements; notify winners and coordinate prizes; follow-up with detailed contest recap.
  4. Post sales related promotions on KITV’s social media platforms and website.
  5. Assist DSM and AEs in creating marketing materials for client presentations.
  6. Pull monthly web and digital statistics using Google Analytics; update station collateral and monitor competitive sites.
  7. Assist and coordinate with the traffic team to load programs onto Local Now FAST Channel and VOD

Requirements

  • 1-2 years general marketing experience, with project management and organizational skills
  • Knowledge of Photoshop, In Design or any graphic design program. HTML5 experience a plus.
  • Experience with social media platforms
  • Computer and software proficiency (Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook, and Internet)

The producer will research and write news stories for television, web and mobile. Create graphics and assist reporters with story development. KITV Island News is looking for a passionate, dedicated, and skilled Anchor who cares deeply about the community. KITV4 Island News anchors are solid and effective communicators who value the time and attention to finding and telling truths.  In addition to being on the anchor desk, the ideal candidate must also be a strong reporter willing to dig deep for answers and understand the value and importance of communicating with viewers on all platforms.  This is a position for a journalist, not just a news reader.

Strong writers make strong anchors, and the ideal candidate will take pride in a nicely worded script, whether it's a package, VO, or tease. The anchor must work well with producers in creating a memorable newscast, including writing, reviewing, and editing scripts.

Responsibilities:

  • Anchoring newscasts; may include platforms beyond broadcast.

Photographer/Editor – Will work under the direction of the Executive Producer and will be
responsible for gathering video and audio material in order to create compelling stories and

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
? Gather compelling pictures and sound that tell a story, while maintaining the “house style”, or
