POSITION: Full-Time Photographer/Editor

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Photographer/Editor is responsible for shooting news stories, editing news stories, setting up, shooting and breaking down live shots and other duties as assigned.

 Job Responsibilities:

• Check in regularly with the assignment desk
• Shoot news stories as assigned
• Edit daily news stories, teases, headlines, super-teases, topicals as they are written and submit for editing
• Set up live shots
• Shoot video and still photos of news stories for Island News mobile platforms

Job/Qualifications Requirements:

• Must be a self-starter - someone who doesn’t wait until they are told what to do
• Ability to multi-task
• Ability to work under pressure, making quick decisions to meet newsroom deadlines
• Ability to work varying schedules
• Must work well with others and be a strong teammate
• Must be able to work flexible hours including nights, overnights, weekends and holidays
• Must be able to carry camera and video/audio equipment
• Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license
• IBEW Membership

Job Description:

KITV, Inc., the ABC affiliate in Honolulu, HI is looking for a full-time newscast producer. The news producer is responsible for creating a newscast from top to bottom and managing it throughout the day. The producer will work closely with reporters, photographers, news managers and other staff to build a relevant and compelling product using all available resources.

Job Responsibilities:

The news producer will create a newscast that is compelling and meets the objective and strategy of the news department. The producer will research and write news stories for television, web and mobile. Create graphics and work with reporters on their stories for the newscast. They will participate in daily editorial meetings and assist with other news projects as assigned. 

Qualifications Requirements:

Strong writing skills. Solid editorial judgment along with knowledge of local, national and world news. High journalistic ethical standards. Understand the need for urgency and accuracy. Can multi-task and work under pressure, especially in breaking news situations. Must have a passion for news and competitive winning spirit. Willing to take risks in the name of creativity in storytelling and presentation. Understands how to maximize visuals and video editing principles. Will work well with others and be a good teammate. Flexibility to work any shift as news is a 24-hour operation.

Education:

• Degree in broadcast journalism, broadcast news or related field.

Experience:

• Minimum two years of broadcast news experience preferred, preferably as a line producer.
• Knowledge of ENPS newsroom software is a plus.
• Experience working with automation production preferred
• Knowledge of digital platforms and use of social media.

KITV Island News is looking for a passionate, dedicated, and skilled Anchor who cares deeply about the community. KITV4 Island News anchors are solid and effective communicators who value the time and attention to finding and telling truths.  In addition to being on the anchor desk, the ideal candidate must also be a strong reporter willing to dig deep for answers and understand the value and importance of communicating with viewers on all platforms.  This is a position for a journalist, not just a news reader.

Strong writers make strong anchors, and the ideal candidate will take pride in a nicely worded script, whether it's a package, VO, or tease. The anchor must work well with producers in creating a memorable newscast, including writing, reviewing, and editing scripts.

Responsibilities:

• Anchoring newscasts; may include platforms beyond broadcast.
• Nights, mornings, weekends, and odd hours are to be expected; breaking news and big event coverage demands all hands on deck.
• Always reporting to gather essential facts.
• Attend daily editorial meetings; always ready to pitch story ideas and guide daily coverage
• Daily contributions to KITV.COM and KITV social media platforms.
• Represent the station at community events and on other related projects.
• Help create a vibrant work environment with a positive and encouraging attitude.

Qualifications and Desired Skills:

• 2-4 years previous experience as a News Anchor at a television/broadcast station.
• 4+ years previous experience as a News Reporter
• College Degree – preferably in journalism, mass communications, or film/TV.
• Knowledge of the Hawaii television market and local culture is a plus.
• Excellent interviewing skills with guests live on set and in the field.
• Excellent writer who understands and follows AP Style
• Computer literacy is imperative
• Experience and/or desire to work on longer form reporting – series, specials, etc.
• Knows how to be a team player and team builder.

The main focus and goal will be to work with businesses and present and close multiple digital opportunities. This Digital Account Executive will be responsible for prospecting new business and grow current accounts, account management and driving revenue through client calls and meetings. Working in a competitive and fast-paced environment allows this individual to succeed and meet their individual revenue goals and contribute to the overall sales team and station goals. The ideal candidate is self-motivated with a proven professional sales history. Comfort with cold-calling is a must.

Responsibilities:

• Prospecting, lead-generation and development of new accounts 
• Secure meetings with high-level decision makers and influencers 
• Take on a consultative role and serve as an industry expert to assess client needs and educate on the power of digital media and advertising to enhance business opportunities

The primary responsibility of the account executive will be to develop new business relationships and revenue for all station platforms. The preferred ideal candidate will have 2+ year of B2B experience with the ability to strategize and negotiate multi-platform sales projects. We are looking for an individual who is a self-starter, team player, has a great positive attitude, is organized, creative, and can thrive in a fast-paced multi-platform environment.

Responsibilities:

• Prospect, cold call, set appointments, and present and close new businesses to generate new advertising revenue.
• Increase existing business on all station platforms (KITV, Me-TV and Digital) to achieve individual and sales team budgets in all areas.
• Maintain and grow relationships with new and existing clients.
• Data entry in sales software for account management and organization.
• Write marketing proposals and create power point presentations.
• Communicate and plan effectively and be a great team player with KITV Sales Team, Creative Services, IT, and Newsroom.
