will edit news video for weekend morning newscasts as well as gather video and interviews weekend mornings. This part-time position is ideal for those who have completed course work or internships that would qualify them for the position. Ideal candidates are creative self-starters who work well with minimal supervision, adapt to flexible schedules, take ownership, and thrive in a deadline driven, breaking news environment.

At a minimum, applicants must be enrolled in a college program leading to a degree in broadcast journalism or a related multimedia field.

WKOW-TV is seeking a part-time Weekend Assignment Editor who loves breaking news and thrives in a competitive environment.

We’re looking for a detail-oriented person who can maintain a comprehensive file of news stories, keep track of current events, coordinate and assign news staff in their daily news coverage responsibilities and assist in the scheduling of news staff. Experience with web and social media posting is required. Good people and communication skills required. Schedule is mainly Saturdays and Sundays, but Fridays hours are available if your schedule permits.

WKOW, Madison, Wisconsin’s ABC affiliate, has a rare opening for an aggressive individual with strong news topical writing skills to join our Marketing and Creative Services Team as a Topical Writer/Producer. The successful candidate will write, produce and edit exceptional topicals and special promotable promotion. This position is responsible for developing consistently effective daily topical promotional spots for all WKOW newscasts. Other responsibilities will include creating Proof of Performance (POP) spots and production work in Marketing and Creative Services as needed. 

You must be able to write compelling marketing promos, collaborate effectively with newscast producers and reporters, and consistently push for the best video to sell the story.

REQUIREMENTS: 

Must be able to work quickly, handle multiple projects and meet strict deadlines under pressure. Knowledge of After Effects, Premiere, ENPS and Photoshop are a plus.
