The right person for this job will be a strong writer who values accuracy and speed. Excellent news judgement is a must. This position is at the forefront of breaking news and is trusted to
bring our audience accurate, up-to-the-minute information when appropriate.

Knowledge of AP writing style and social media best practices preferred but not required.

This position also requires analyzing our digital content to identify what we are doing well and where we can improve. Communicating that information with the team is key. Newsroom
experience preferred.

WQOW News 18, ABC’s Eau Claire affiliate, is looking for a creative, organized, and energetic person to join our team as a Technical Media Producer. This is a part time position.

If you are quick to learn new tasks, enjoy learning about new technology, and have an interest in learning about the news and television industry, this job is for you!

A technical media producer works behind the scenes of our newscasts and behind the scenes of our on-air programming. Responsibilities include graphic design, video editing, live newscast directing, live newscast audio board operating, master control monitoring, entering video into our system, quality control, clear communication, as well as other tasks as needed.

On-the-job training will be provided. Experience is preferred but not required.

WQOW, an ABC affiliate in Eau Claire, Wisconsin, is looking for a bright, energetic, and articulate anchor for our 2 hour morning show, “Daybreak”.

This is not an entry-level job. We are looking for someone with at least one year of experience anchoring, reporting, and/or producing a local television newscast.

The ideal candidate will have exceptional communication skills, both oral and written. You will be able to maintain a professional appearance under all conditions, including breaking news and under deadlines. You will also have a passion for local news and a positive attitude.

In addition to anchoring, our Daybreak anchors fill-in producing the show and produce their own content as well, many of which are in-depth, long-form packages.  WQOW is active in the community and our staff represents the station in several community events throughout the year.

WXOW, ABC affiliate in La Crosse, WI, has an immediate opening for an Assignment Manager. We are looking for a responsible, self-motivated, and organized person to help lead the newsroom.

This is a leadership position where you will work closely with the News Director to shape our news coverage every day. Some of the responsibilities will include daily editorial meetings, produce, and manage daily story ideas, track upcoming events for potential stories, coordinate breaking news coverage, assign stories to staff, and work with reporters daily to cultivate the best story possible.

The ideal candidate will embrace social media as our staff produces content for on-air, online, and mobile platforms. Candidates should be comfortable with managing multiple employees, staff scheduling and special event planning. The ideal candidate should love breaking news and investigative stories, but also have a desire to work with reporters on enterprise stories that’ll help set our storytelling apart from everyone else.

To be considered, the candidate will need to be deeply invested in local, state, and national news, including but not limited to politics, business, and agriculture. A successful candidate will not only be able to work efficiently under pressure but be able to lead during it. Knowledge of Blox CMS, iNews and Avid is a plus.

WXOW, the ABC affiliate in La Crosse, Wisconsin, is looking for a bright, energetic anchor for our 2 hour morning show, “Daybreak”.

You’ll be paired with established co-anchors and meteorologists to provide our viewers with overnight breaking news, weather and interviews. This is not an entry-level position and need at least one year of on-air experience. Familiarity with Wisconsin politics and issues is a plus, as is experience with iNews and Avid.

The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of anchoring, reporting and producing newscasts. This position is great for someone who has a team attitude and can provide a confident, trustworthy and fair presence both on-air and in the field. A successful candidate will work efficiently under pressure and be able to cover breaking
news.  

Applicants must have a degree in journalism or a related multimedia field.

WXOW News 19 is looking for a full-time meteorologist to anchor our weather newscast. Successful candidate loves weather and can deliver an understandable accurate forecast. Position includes weekend fill-in, live breaking weather coverage, some reporting and organizing community weather promotional events.

We are looking for a person who embraces the challenge of forecasting four seasons, takes a leadership role in forecasting (especially during severe weather)and is committed to working as part of a team.

WXOW News 19 is committed to competing on all platforms: broadcast, web and social media. You need excellent communication skills. You will work with a professional forecast team using the latest version of The Weather Compan's MAX. We are equipped with MAX Studio, Storm, and Connect. You’ll also produce live and recorded weather updates for our radio partners. Commercial television experience and solid computer skills are required.
