KITV4 is seeking a full-time Managing Editor who is ready to help 
oversee and assist in developing a growing news staff. The Managing 
Editor will assist the News Director and have an active role in 
managing the news department ensuring that the station's vision and
mission is understood by the news team.
 Job Responsibilities:
• Assist with the management of the overall daily operation of the
news department.
• Create newscasts as needed. The Managing Editor will 
work closely with reporters, photographers, news managers and 
other staff to build a relevant and compelling product using all 
available resources.
• Research and write news stories for television, web and mobile. 
Create graphics and work with reporters on their stories for the 
newscast. Participate in daily editorial meetings. Assist with other 
news projects as assigned.
• Supervise all news department staff and assist with 
recruiting, coaching, development, and if necessary, 
discipline and termination
• Along with the News Director, participate in and help set the 
tone and culture of the news department with journalistic 
• Assist with the coordination of the station's news and
information content across its multiple platforms.
• Reinforce all policies, procedures and guidelines necessary for
a successful news operation.
• Work together with the News Director on strategy, daily operation, 
station projects and other initiatives.

• Minimum of five years in leadership role(s) in a television 
• Experience and knowledge of breaking news best practices,
digital and social media, mobile platforms and multi-platform 
news gathering.
 Requirements: ·
• Must be a leader with a shared vision and ability to
effectively communicate that vision to the staff.
• Ability to identify the developmental needs of staff and
coach them to improve their knowledge and skills.
• Demonstrable knowledge of all phases of a television
news operation including but not limited to: news 
reporting and writing newscast formats, news 
producing, newsroom organization and newsgathering 
• Ability to think critically and adept at managing in a fast-paced, highly charged and aggressive news environment
• Must have strong understanding of legal and ethical
issues and operates with the high journalistic standards.
• Basic understanding of newsroom technical operation 
including computer networking, newsroom systems,
and digital technology.
• Excellent communication, organization, and writing skills.
