Sports Multimedia Journalist

WTVA has an immediate opening for a Sports Multimedia Journalist to work at one of the top small-market stations in the country. WTVA is located in Tupelo, Mississippi. Tupelo is the birthplace of Elvis Presley and the regional hub in beautiful northeast Mississippi.

We are in the heart of SEC country. We cover Ole Miss and Mississippi State sports extensively. College sports are an important part of our culture here in northeast Mississippi and at WTVA. It's not uncommon for a sports story to lead a newscast or for a producer to give sports extra time in a show.

We need a team player who lives, breathes and eats local sports. We need a strong storyteller who is able to grab the big sports story and sports feature on a daily basis. We focus on hyper local sports — stories you won't find on ESPN or on the networks. High school sports are just as important to us as collegiate level athletics.

This person will shoot, write and edit stories, report live from the field and write for our website as well as our social media platforms. The person we hire would also anchor and produce sportscasts at least two days a week.

If you're coachable, can communicate and work well with others and have a great work ethic, we want to hear from you.

Minimum requirements
  • Must have a four-year college or university degree and/or previous experience in a television, radio, print or online newsroom.

  • Must undergo a writing and/or current events test.
