JOB DESCRIPTION:
The Digital Content Producer (DCP) creates/edits content on multiple platforms for an aggressive news station, creating content beyond that which is produced for on-air.
The DCP generates content consistent with the news values and goals of the news department and the station for the web and digital platforms.
Takes initiative when breaking news happens to confirm, gather elements, build out web stories, and push alerts with a competitive sense of urgency.
Expert understanding of Facebook, “X” (formerly Twitter), and other social media platforms as tools to improve engagement with viewers.
Responsible for setting up live streams for web and social media.
Research additional information related to posted news stories, to expand the coverage by providing complete and accurate information.
Reviews web posts and corrects errors in content, grammar, and punctuation, following Associated Press editorial style and formatting guidelines.
Use Social Media and websites to build and reinforce brand recognition and drive viewers to television.
Pitches on-brand local and trending stories during morning and afternoon editorial meetings.
Requirements & Skills:
College Degree in Journalism, Mass Communications, English, or Technology.
Proficiency in writing news stories for a daily newspaper, broadcast news, or digital news sites.
Experience with Associated Press writing style/standards, ENPS, Desktop editing, and Web Design.
Experience with digital applications, e.g. CSS, Flash, OBS-streaming, push alert platforms and Basic HTML preferred.
Maintain a positive work environment through active team participation and cooperation with co-workers in all departments.
Can take direction and respond positively to feedback
