REQUIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:
? Exceptional photography skill (video/still)
? Broadcast news or commercial production experience.

? Advanced editing capabilities, expert in the use of picture and sound to create compelling
stories.

KITV4 is seeking a full-time Managing Editor who is ready to help 
oversee and assist in developing a growing news staff. The Managing 
Editor will assist the News Director and have an active role in 
managing the news department ensuring that the station's vision and
mission is understood by the news team.
 Job Responsibilities:
• Assist with the management of the overall daily operation of the
news department.
• Create newscasts as needed. The Managing Editor will 
work closely with reporters, photographers, news managers and 
other staff to build a relevant and compelling product using all 
available resources.
• Research and write news stories for television, web and mobile.

Job Responsibilities:

The journalist must cultivate sources and contacts to produce enterprise and general assignment stories.

  • Gathering and verifying factual information regarding stories
  • Be a creative storyteller.
  • Shoot video/still photos and edit to illustrate stories
  • Produce vo, vosot, and video packages that include reporter’s voice and image.
  • Editing, or assisting in editing, videos for all multimedia platforms including KITV.com, Facebook, and Twitter, et.al.
  • Live reporting

Qualifications Requirements:

  • Computer literacy required, including newsroom computer systems
  • Knowledge of broadcast quality camera equipment
  • Knowledge of broadcast non-linear editing equipment
  • Strong broadcast and AP style writing skills
  • Excellent interviewing skills
  • Self-motivated and able to work in a fast-paced deadline-driven environment
  • Must exercise sound editorial judgement and operates by highest journalistic ethics and libel laws
  • Valid Driver's License, good driving record and provide proof of insurability with company required insurance limits
  • A passion for news plus producing compelling and engaging stories.

Education:

  • Four-year college degree (Journalism preferred)

Experience:

  • 1-3 years of experience working as a journalist inside a television newsroom
  • 1-2 years of experience as a Multi-Media Journalist in a television newsroom.
  • Previous sports reporting and/or weathercast experience a plus.
