JOB DESCRIPTION-NEWS PHOTOGRAPHER/VIDEO JOURNALIST

WAAY-TV, ABC 31 serving the Huntsville Alabama DMA is looking for a creative full-time News Photographer. We are seeking someone who can see beyond the lens and bring back compelling stories. The candidate should have one or more years of ENG experience with a network affiliate news organization. You will run live shots, cover day to day general news, in-depth features, and investigative. Skills in shooting on media cards and editing on desktops and laptops is necessary. You should have strong editing skills in non-linear edit systems, possess excellent people skills, a strong work ethic, and a great attitude. A passion for story telling is absolutely essential in this position. Please provide examples of your work to be considered.

Requirements and Qualifications:

  • At least one-year of shooting experience and technical knowledge of editing and photo equipment
  • Team-player who can produce good stories under tight deadlines
  • Must have valid driver’s license, good driving record and be able to operate ENG news vehicles
  • Ability to edit and shoot general assignment stories, lives shots and natural sound packages
  • Must be able to lift and carry between 25 and 50 pounds on a regular basis

JOB DESCRIPTION-DIGITAL CONTENT PRODUCER

WAAY-TV, ABC 31 serving the Huntsville Alabama DMA is looking for a relentless “news hound” to serve as a full-time Digital Content Producer.  We are seeking someone who will work directly with station leadership to execute strategic plans for attraction and retention of consumers of information, populating all WAAY-TV platforms with relevant and informative content. 

Requirements skills and qualifications include, but are not limited to:

  • Ability to thrive in a 24/7 news environment
  • Extremely proficiency with use of multiple social media platforms including Facebook and Instagram
  • Be aware and in tune with emerging social media
  • Proficiency at cross-promotions between on-air and on-line initiatives, or ability to learn this skill
  • Preferably a minimum of one year of newsroom experience
  • Commitment to journalistic standards of ethics and accuracy
  • The ability to communicate effectively
  • Basic computer knowledge/word processing skills
  • General knowledge and interest in local, national, and world news
  • The ability to work well under pressure and meet deadlines
  • Flexibility to work mornings, nights, weekends, and holidays as needed
