WQOW in Eau Claire, Wisconsin is looking for an energized person to join our award-winning morning team as a full-time Production Assistant.

 

If you’ve been looking for your opportunity to break into live television production, this is it. While previous television experience is a plus, we are absolutely willing to train the right candidate.

 

In this position, you will learn how to edit video, create on-air graphics, run an audio board, and many other behind-the-scene skills needed to put on a live television production.

 

The ideal person for this job will work well independently and within deadlines. While rare, breaking news does happen overnight. This right person for this job will work well under pressure and handle last minute and unexpected changes with grace.

WQOW-TV in Eau Claire, Wisconsin is looking for an ambitious person who is passionate about local news and journalism to fill our full time position of evening news producer. If you have an eye for detail, consider yourself a spelling and grammar czar, and enjoy puzzles, this may be the perfect entry-level position for you.

 

We are willing to train the right candidate. Our extensive on-boarding process will prepare you to succeed in this position. We strongly believe in cross-training, so you’ll have the skills and confidence to excel as a producer, and a citizen of the newsroom.

 

The ideal candidate will have excellent time-management skills and must work well under deadlines in a fast-paced environment. Accuracy is valued above all else. A degree in journalism is preferred. Knowledge of AP Style is a must; Avid and iNews proficiency is a bonus.

 

Responsibilities include writing on-air copy that compels, formatting content to fit within our show templates, assign camera operations and on-air reads, manage breaking news. You will work closely with news anchors to produce and execute a show that flows well and is easy for viewers to follow. You will also be expected to calmly handle breaking news situations and changing news as it happens.

WQOW News18 is looking for an energetic creative professional to work behind the scenes during our live newscasts. This important position is responsible for live switching between video and camera feeds, as well as operation of on-air graphics. This key role is also responsible for quality control, appearance, and graphic design of our on-air product.

 

We are looking for a team player who can work well independently. We ask that you provide enthusiasm and have a passion for working in a fast-paced environment.

 

Ideally, this person would have some experience directing live newscasts, but on-the-job training is provided. Television experience is a plus. Knowledge of the Adobe Creative Cloud Suite is a benefit.

 

This full-time position works early morning hours, Monday through Friday. Full-time employees are eligible for benefits.

Applicants must have a degree in journalism or a related multimedia field. Knowledge of iNews and Avid is a plus. Our staff produces content for on-air, online and mobile platforms. WQOW, the award-winning ABC affiliate serving western Wisconsin, needs an ambitious meteorologist to join our team. Eau Claire, Wisconsin is a meteorologist’s dream. From winter white to scorching sun and everything in between, our climate runs the gamut.

 

As the third member of our weather team, you’ll anchor weekend weather, fill-in on the weekdays and report during the week. Weather wins at WQOW, and the ideal candidate will be comfortable taking a leadership role in forecasting, especially during severe weather. Severe and nuisance weather requires team coverage, so plan for weather-related live shots on reporting days.

 

Excellent communication skills are a must. The ideal candidate will work well under pressure, have superb time-management and be flexible in cases of severe weather.

You’d work with state-of-the-art weather technology including The Weather Company’s MAX, MAX Storm, and MAX Engage. In addition, we have many other weather tools at your disposal to tell your best weather story, including live cameras throughout the DMA and a large network of weather trackers.
