WXOW News19 is looking for a talented journalist who can produce and anchor weekend newscasts and be our lead reporter three days a week. 

This is not an entry-level position.  You will oversee our newsroom on the weekends, deciding coverage, updating our website and social media platforms, as well as producing and anchoring the evening newscasts.  

We need someone who has great news judgment, good on-air skills and leadership ability.  The ideal candidate is an experienced journalist who can do it all and thrives in a leadership role.  You’ll work closely with producers and reporters to develop content for multiple newscasts, as well as our web, mobile, and social platforms.  Previous anchoring experience is preferred.  Familiarity with Avid, iNews and Wisconsin news is a plus.

WXOW, ABC affiliate in La Crosse, WI has an immediate opening for a full-time Traffic and Programming Manager to join its award-winning team.

Are you interested in behind the scenes work that goes into broadcasting the programming and commercials you see on a local television station? This position keeps our television station on the air and broadcasting 24/7.

Candidate must be detail oriented, have multi-tasking abilities, and excellent organization skills. Success in this position is measured by accuracy, attention to detail, a track record of dependability and organizational skills.

The Traffic and Programming Manager prepares daily commercial and program logs for multiple stations which includes working these tasks and others:

? Working with Sales Management to manage commercial inventory
? Assign and manage input of commercial material
? Downloading and maintaining commercial materials and paid programming
? Scheduling programming
? Coordinate with other departments on special projects, commercial/promotion air-time
placement, calculating exact run times for programs and commercial breaks
? Other duties as assigned

Requirements and Skills:
? High School diploma
? Excellent communication skills, both oral and written
? Meticulous data-entry skills
? Minimum one year experience in clerical support or administrative assistance
? Proficiency with computers and ability to learn new software quickly

This person must be a positive motivator to develop a strong, creative sales strategy that will focus on growing new business to deliver customer solutions through a suite of media platforms including television an array of digital products.

Responsibilities include collaborate with sales managers in management of the local sales team, oversight of new local business efforts, including accountability for sales goals and inventory management, build strong client relationships, analyze statistical data, understand multi-media platforms. We are looking for an upbeat, intelligent, and charismatic person who can deliver an accurate and understandable forecast. You will have excellent communication skills and work well within deadlines and under pressure. The ideal candidate has at least one year of on-air meteorology experience. 

You will work with a professional forecast team using the latest version of The Weather Company's MAX. We are equipped with MAX Studio, Storm, and Connect. You’ll also produce live and recorded weather updates for our radio partners.

This is a unique opportunity to get experience with both departments. You’ll work with a talented team of reporters and anchors who are passionate about producing high-quality television and web content.

When working in sports, candidates will shoot and edit local high school and college sports for our newscasts. There are plenty of opportunities for you to go live and fill-in anchor on the sports desk.

On the news side, you’ll cover a variety of topics and everyday will be different. You will turn content for our shows daily and will also be expected to go live.

Must be flexible with scheduling to accommodate breaking news and weekend sporting events. Experience with shooting and editing digital video to a professional standard
and a basic knowledge of journalism is preferred. However, we are willing to train the right candidate with a stellar work ethic.

Here is your opportunity to break into live television production by working behind the scenes for our morning newscasts. Learn how to edit video, create graphics, run an audio board, and other skills needed to put on a live television production.

You’ll be paired with our popular co-anchor, Katie Phernetton, and meteorologist Justin Esterly to provide our viewers with overnight breaking news, weather, and interviews.

 

The ideal candidate will have exceptional communication skills, both oral and written. You will be able to maintain a professional appearance under all conditions, including breaking news and under deadlines. You will also have a passion for local news and a positive attitude.

 

This is not an entry-level job. We are looking for someone with at least one year of experience anchoring, reporting, and/or producing a local television newscast. In addition to anchoring, our Daybreak anchors fill-in producing the show and produce their own content as well, many of which are in-depth, long-form packages.
