WQOW News 18 in Eau Claire, Wisconsin, is seeking an energetic and skilled Meteorologist to join our evening team. We are committed to providing the most accurate and understandable forecasts across all platforms—broadcast, web, and social media—with a priority on local, impactful coverage.


The Role: Forecasting & Storytelling


We are looking for an upbeat, intelligent, and charismatic individual who thrives on deadline and under pressure. You will be a key communicator, delivering critical weather information to our loyal viewing audience.


Key Responsibilities:


● Produce and deliver accurate, engaging, and understandable on-air weather forecasts for our morning newscasts.
● Cover severe weather events, providing continuous, life-saving information and graphics.
● Generate digital and social media content (videos, blog posts, graphics) to keep our audience informed 24/7.
● Collaborate with the news team to craft weather-related stories and special segments.
● Produce live and recorded weather updates for our valued radio partners.
● Maintain and update weather systems, ensuring the seamless operation of our forecasting tools.
● Represent WQOW at community events and station appearances.

● Equipped with MAX Studio, Storm, and Connect for dynamic and versatile presentations.
Qualifications:
● Bachelor’s Degree in Meteorology, Atmospheric Science, or a related field preferred.
● A minimum of one year of on-air broadcast meteorology experience is required.
● Exceptional on-camera presence, communication, and storytelling skills.
● Proven ability to work independently and as part of a high-energy, deadline-driven team.
● Demonstrated knowledge of severe weather forecasting and climate trends in the Midwest is a strong plus.

WQOW TV 18 is seeking an energetic and experienced TV News Anchor/Producer to join our team for the Wake Up Wisconsin morning show. This is an exciting opportunity to be the face and voice that starts the day for viewers in our community.

The Anchor/Producer will be responsible for anchoring and producing WQOW TV 18's Monday through Friday morning show, Wake Up Wisconsin, which airs from 4:30 a.m. to 7:00 a.m. This role requires a dynamic on-air presence and strong journalistic skills to gather, write, produce, and present accurate and compelling news content.

Key responsibilities include delivering news clearly and in an engaging manner. The Anchor/Producer is also responsible for producing, which includes writing scripts, coordinating graphics, and monitoring show timing. You will also generate story ideas, conduct interviews, and report on stories as needed.
Good news judgment is a must, as is being a self-starter who has the ability to work independently and as part of a team. You must be able to work in an organized fashion under tight deadlines.

This is not an entry level position. Proven experience anchoring or reporting in a professional broadcast environment is required. A strong background in journalism, including familiarity with journalistic ethics and standards, is a must. Proficiency in newsroom computer systems (e.g. ENPS) and non-linear editing software is a plus (Edius).

This full-time position plays an essential role in supporting our WXOW/WQOW Sales Management Team and Account Executives. The ideal candidate will assist throughout the sales process by maintaining client contracts, entering and managing orders, preparing sales and marketing presentations, communicating with advertisers and advertising agencies, and providing overall administrative and sales support to ensure smooth and efficient operations.

This is a fast-paced, high-performance environment that requires excellent attention to detail, strong organizational abilities, and comfort working with numbers. Proficiency in computer applications including Google Workspace, Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint is required. The ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and effectively prioritize work is essential for success in this role.
