Fox 55 in Fort Wayne, IN (DMA 111) is hiring a Weekend Sports Anchor/MMJ. 

Fort Wayne is passionate about its minor league, college, and high school sports teams and we're looking for someone comfortable and confident under pressure who enjoys telling compelling stories. 

Responsiblities also include shooting games during the week and anchoring our weekend sports segments, including co-anchoring our half-hour show, The Locker Room, every Friday.

Job Description

WFFT-TV is seeking applicants for an experienced and dynamic Newscast Director. The Newscast Director is responsible for communicating and executing all technical aspects of live production, with all technical staff, including the Producer, Technical Director, Audio Operator, Studio, and Engineering. Positive pro-active attitude and schedule flexibility are necessary for this position. With a unique format, a dedication to hard news and the resources of WFFT, this is a rare opportunity to join one of the best.

Job Responsibilities
Directing broadcast newscasts.
Provide creative input and will work closely with the newscast producer and production crew.
Be responsible for clean technical execution of the overall look of the newscast.
Must be able to call and punch a newscast.

Required Skills

MOS and basic computer network understanding.
Understanding of newsroom systems iNews/ENPS and video playback systems.

Education
Bachelor’s Degree in Broadcast Journalism or related field preferred or equivalent work experience

Required Experience

What the job is:  Care and feeding of broadcast equipment.  TV engineers are a part of a rare group that gets to play with technology that you won't find anywhere else.  

 

Who we're looking for:  If you've done the job before, we'd love to hear from you!  If you haven't, that's great too!  We are always willing to train the right person!  The right person has the constant desire to learn.  If you aren't soldering, rackmounting new hardware, or configuring one of our many purpose built servers, the right candidate will be reading documentation for existing equipment or researching new gear.  Looking for a bi-lingual candidate, specifically one for can translate Techno-babble to normal English (must be able to honestly check the "I am not a robot" checkbox).

 

THE DETAILS:

JOB DESCRIPTION: Maintenance and repair of station equipment

Follow preventative maintenance schedule

Install new equipment

Equipment including, but not limited to:

            Edius and Adobe editing equipment

            Grass Valley video servers

            Harris Nexio video servers

            JVC and Sony cameras

            Utah Scientific routing system

            IP based video encoding and decoding

 

Candidate may also fulfill Master Control duties for vacation relief:

Switch station breaks and programs-analog and digital channels Record satellite program feeds Check quality of program feeds prior to air-time Operate Nexio tapeless airplay system; Beta SP and DVCPro tape machines Dub commercials, promos and PSA’s for air Check next day’s logs for missing material Keep accurate transmitter and program logs

EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS NECESSARY: IT skills are a must

Experience maintaining and repairing electronics equipment

Board and component level troubleshooting

An understanding of audio/video signal flow

Good mathematical skills

Previous Master Control experience preferred
