WLFI-TV seeks a television Newscast Producer. Our next newsroom team
member will deliver news important to viewers with local, accurate, and visual content. WLFI’s
newsroom is a team atmosphere and we’re looking for someone who can come in to play a pivotal role
in our successful newsroom. The primary purpose is to create, lead and organize content for multiple
platforms using strong editorial, journalistic, organizational and communication skills.
Key activities:

  • Developing newscasts and local programs; responsible for writing, and showcasing
  • Working closely with news managers and assignment editors to determine content
  • Executing time-sensitive decisions
  • Responsible for oversight of live broadcast
  • Desktop editing
  • Posting content to WLFI’s Web site

Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Journalism or related field

Skills and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of Edius preferred
  • Excellent conversational and creative writing skills
  • Must have strong communication and organization skills
  • Adaptable, self-motivated and able to work in a fast paced, deadline driven environment

In this role, you will help lead the station’s digital content initiatives. We are looking for a champion
content creator to help shape and execute strategies for our newsroom and all its digital media efforts.
The ideal candidate will have web and social media news content creation experience, strong writing
skills, ability to comprehend digital analytics, strong written and verbal communication skills, and the
ability to work closely with the newsroom management team to create and administer daily content

Principal Duties & Responsibilities:
? Train, develop and motivate sales staff.
? Work with sales management to develop new and non-traditional revenue streams, sales
packages, promotions and internet while overseeing implementation.
? Manage and direct account executives to achieve local sales goals.
? Plan and direct staffing, training and performance evaluation to develop staff.
? Prepare and submit sales and financial reports as directed.

WLFI-TV is looking for an experienced, aggressive and collaborative-style Assistant News Director to join
our team. The Assistant News Director must be a proven newsroom leader who knows how to win
breaking news and weather coverage on all platforms, maintain a strong sense of urgency with our
newscast production and newsroom culture, and knows how to balance serious journalism with lighter
moments critical to the success of our newscasts. 
The successful candidate must have a drive and passion, with an innovative mind and truly be able to
see the big picture. This position will be responsible for the day-to-day news operation and be involved
in long-term planning of news content across all platforms. 
Key Activities: 
• Assist News Director with supervisory responsibility for all news broadcasts and online content. 
• Involved in hiring and performance management of direct reports. 
• Assist News Director in the on-going evaluation of personnel. 
• Create tactics and strategies to increase ratings performance in key target areas for multiple
platforms. 
• Assist in execution of news content strategy.
 • Implement and have working knowledge of federal, state and local laws impacting operations. 
• Ability to manage cross platform content creation and distribution.
 • Write copy and edit scripts for air and web.
 • Knowledge of and proficiency in posting content to station websites. 
• Schedule anchors and multi-media journalists.
 • Lead coverage planning of major events: elections, other special events.
 • Proactively communicate news initiatives & community efforts across departments.
 • Evaluate workflow efficiencies. 
• Assist News Director in managing the budgetary aspects of newsroom operations

 Skills and Abilities: 
• Advanced oral and written communication skills.
• Advanced computer skills including Microsoft Office.
 • Broad understanding of newsroom operations and equipment.

 Education/Experience:

Ideal Candidates must be extremely detail oriented, have a strong desire to learn, be able to work under
pressure as part of a team, and be able to work flexible hours. If you are an experienced Director and or
Production assistant looking to become a Director, this job is for you.
Experience in Television Directing, is preferred. A college degree is recommended. Candidates must
have a knowledge of computers and production equipment. The use of Adobe Photoshop, other editing

Someone with a strong understanding and experience with DSLR cameras, audio recording, and lighting.  We work in a team environment and collaborate to make award winning videos. We are looking for a team member to take a project from concept to completion. If you are someone who is detail oriented and can take an idea and create a compelling promotional video, this is the job for you!   

This position may also direct live news casts, and may perform various other tasks during live news broadcasts including audio operation.  Automation knowledge is a plus.  Ideal candidates must have a strong desire to learn and be able to work as a team. Experience in Television is preferred.
