 Qualified applicants will accurately interpret weather data, develop forecasts, generate graphics on WSI Max, and clearly present information on evening Newscasts Saturday and Sunday.  Candidates will also shoot, write, and edit News content three days per week. Community involvement, school talks, and effective communication with Emergency Management agencies and National Weather Service staff is essential.

Applicants must hold a Bachelor`s degree in Earth and Atmospheric Science or Synoptic Meteorology. Applicants must have strong camera presence, solid vocal delivery, and clear enunciation.

 Our next newsroom team member will deliver news important to viewers with local, accurate, and visual content.  WLFI’s newsroom is a team atmosphere and we’re looking for someone who can come in to play a pivotal role in our successful newsroom.  The primary purpose is to create, lead and organize content for multiple platforms using strong editorial, journalistic, organizational and communication skills.

Key activities:

·         Developing newscasts and local programs; responsible for writing, and showcasing

·         Working closely with news managers and assignment editors to determine content

·         Executing time-sensitive decisions

·         Responsible for oversight of live broadcast

·         Desktop editing

·         Posting content to WLFI’s Web site

Education/Experience:

·         Bachelor’s degree in Journalism or related field

Skills and Abilities:

·         Knowledge of Edius preferred

·         Excellent conversational and creative writing skills

·         Must have strong communication and organization skills

·         Adaptable, self-motivated and able to work in a fast paced, deadline driven environment

The ability to run Master control, ingest media into servers, and monitor on air signal output are the main responsibilities. This position will also direct live news casts, and may perform various other tasks during live news broadcasts including audio operation.  The candidate will prepare playlist and programs for next day air, and purge content from previous day’s logs. He / She must have good communication skills and the ability to react quickly to changes.

Ideal Candidates must be extremely detail oriented, have a strong desire to learn, be able to work under pressure as part of a team, and be able to work flexible hours. If you are an experienced Director and or Production assistant looking to become a Director, this job is for you. 

Experience in Television Directing, is preferred.  A college degree is recommended. Candidates must have a knowledge of computers and production equipment. The use of Adobe Photoshop, other editing software, as well as control room experience preferred. Experience with non-linear editing systems as well as a working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite is encouraged.   Automation knowledge is a plus.

Applicants must have strong camera presence, solid vocal delivery, and clear enunciation, and the ability to relate to viewers.

This position requires strong reporting and producing skills, the ability to develop local contacts, ability to shoot and edit video, clear writing, and good use of video and sound in storytelling.  This position also requires the ability to write and post stories to the WLFI website.

 Must be able to handle equipment needed to perform the daily duties of news gathering for a multi-platform, multi-tasking job.

Required: 1 year of broadcast television news experience, 4-year college degree in broadcast news, a good driving record, and a valid driver’s license.
